Bondona Kalita is the main suspect who concocted the conspiracy and murdered her husband and mother-in-law with the help of two accomplices.
The group murdered the mother-son combo, sliced up their bodies, and stored the pieces in a refrigerator for three days before going on a killing spree in Meghalaya.
In a statement to the media following the shocking incident that has dominated headlines across the country today, Guwahati Commissioner of Police Diganta Barah stated that on August 29, a missing report of the mother-son duo was filed by Bondona Kalita, and on November 21, the nephew of Shankari Dey (mother-in-law) filed another complaint at the Noonmati Police Station.
"Bondona had made the complaint after meeting with the DIG (CID), who passed on the case to us for thorough inquiry," Diganta Barah explained, adding, "Following that, we brought Bondona Kalita within the scope of the investigation."
"Amarjyoti and Bondona married 12 years ago," said the Guwahati Commissioner of Police. The couple had married against the wishes of their relatives. Amarjyoti led a different life than Bondona. He had a lot of female friends, which regularly caused squabbles between the pair. This added to the tension in their marriage."
