Digital Desk: The Guwahati traffic police issued a notification today outlining traffic restrictions during the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations. The restrictions will be in effect from October 21 to October 24, with the aim of managing traffic flow and ensuring the safety of the public.

According to the notification, goods-carrying vehicles will be permitted to enter the city only during specific hours, from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m., during the aforementioned period. Commercial vehicles with six wheels or more will face restrictions on National Highway No. 27 and National Highway No. 17, being prohibited from plying between 11 a.m. and 12 midnight.

In addition to these restrictions, several key areas in the city, including Dispur, Basistha, Bharalumukh, Jalukbari, Panbazar, Chandmari, and Noonmati, will experience limited vehicular movement during the Durga Puja festivities.

Considering the expected surge in the number of people participating in the celebrations, the traffic police have also introduced measures to restrict traffic flow in various parts of the city. This decision aims to ensure the safety of pedestrians and maintain the smooth conduct of the festive events.

Furthermore, commercial vehicles, especially those with All Assam Tourist Permits arriving from Lower Assam, will be directed to terminate at the Adabari bus terminus during the Puja period. Vehicles from Upper Assam will be allowed to proceed up to ISBT Betkuchi.

Additionally, ASTC undertaking buses traveling from Lower Assam to Paltanbazar will be diverted away from Jalukbari and rerouted to ISBT to maintain efficient traffic management.

These measures are intended to guarantee a safe and enjoyable Durga Puja for all residents and visitors to Guwahati. Motorists are urged to adhere to the imposed restrictions and cooperate with the traffic police during this festive period.
