The traffic limitations and diversions will be effective from tonight...
Digital Desk: The Guwahati Traffic Police informed on Monday that some portion of MG road at Bhoothnath & Machkhowa will be blocked by PWD roads due to the ongoing construction of a new fly over, which is scheduled to be inaugurated by this month's end.
According to the traffic police, certain sections of the main road will have traffic limitations and diversionary routes implemented for the convenience of construction work. This could result in traffic congestion.
The traffic limitations and diversions will be effective from tonight, according to a statement. The suggested east and west rotating diversion plans during the flyover's construction were also shared by the traffic police.
Therefore, it is recommended that commuters use other routes whenever possible.
It should be noted that in February 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the first six-lane, high-tech extradosed bridge in Assam, which will extend over the Brahmaputra River and link Guwahati and North Guwahati.
Six-lane construction is reportedly underway to connect the National Highway at Gauripur, Kamrup district, with the bridge's termination point in North Guwahati.
According to PWD officials, the journey between Guwahati and Gauripur will take just 10 minutes once the bridge is functioning. To go this distance now takes more than an hour. Additionally, the bridge would aid in reducing traffic in areas like Jalukbari, Adabari, and Maligaon.
