    Guwahati: Police apprehend three suspects in the elderly couple's murder case

    Guwahati: In the latest development, the Assam police have apprehended three people linked with the brutal murder case of an elderly couple at their residents of Guwahati's Chandan Nagar area, Survey in Beltola.





    Reportedly, the accused has been identified as Akash Choudhury and his wife, caretakers of the deceased couple. The police have not revealed another man's identity, who had been apprehended for police interrogation.





    As per the police report, the man was present at the elderly couple's residents on Monday night; however, the reasons for his presence are yet to come to light.

    Police officials stated that a joint investigation led by Guwahati police, Crime branch, and Assam CID is underway and soon, the main culprit will be arrested.





    Moreover, Director General of Police (Law and Order), G.P.Singh, stated that based on the investigation, he is positive that the case will be solved at the earliest.





    Sources quoted that the elderly couple was attacked by a sharp weapon and killed due to land-related issues as only documents were taken away by the murderer instead of any valuable items.





    On Tuesday morning, an elderly couple was found lying dead on their bed by the caretakers. The deceased couple was identified as Noni Gopal Baruah (87) and Mina Baruah (76).





    According to the statements of the caretakers, who claimed it to be a robbery case said that the robbers broke into the house through a window in the early hours and killed the couple with sharp weapons in their bedroom.





    Meanwhile, the couple's daughters reached Guwahati, who used to live outside Assam.
