Digital Desk: The Assam Board of Secondary Education (SEBA) has declared a new date for the examination of General Science (C3) of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC), scheduled on March 13, which was previously cancelled on March 12 after a handwritten model question paper was leaked on social media.

According to the most recent reports, the cancelled HSLC examination of the general science subject will now be conducted on March 30 from 9 a.m. onward in all the exam centers of the state.

The announcement was made through a notification shared by the state education minister, Ranoj Pegu, on his official Twitter handle.

On the other hand, the English exam that had been cancelled at JR Higher Secondary School in Ganirgram, Cachar district, will be held on March 28.

SEBA has stated in a notification that all 760 assigned candidates from the above-mentioned center must be present for the English (C1) examination on the date and time specified by the board.

Notably, the General Science paper from the ongoing High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Class 10 exams has been leaked ahead of today's exam.

Following the discovery of the matter, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) issued a notification last night cancelling today's exam.

This is not the first time that question papers from previous tests have allegedly leaked, according to several reports. However, education minister Ranoj Pegu rejected the reports and refuted that the papers were leaked ahead of the exam.

In response to the HSLC paper leak incident, Ranoj Pegu told the media, "This is the second time that incidents involving paper leaks have been brought to light in the state; earlier, in 2006, similar incidents were reported. Concerning the rumours of prior paper leakage this year, as soon as we learned about the incidents of question paper leakage in the media, we cross-checked them and discovered that there were no such incidents. However, after receiving concrete proof of the leaked science paper, the board chose to cancel the examination immediately. I am confident in SEBA's ability to handle the situation effectively."

Pegu stated that the SEBA had told him of a rumour involving the leak of the HSLC Science exam question paper. After conducting an investigation, the board decided to cancel the examination after gathering adequate evidence. The SEBA then filed a case in this respect, and the CID has been directed to investigate the matter.

"I also spoke with the Director General of Police, and the culprits will be punished in accordance with the law," said the education minister.
