Despite conducting an investigation into the incident, police have not been able to arrest any of the perpetrators.

Digital Desk: In a horrific incident, miscreants brutally murdered a man and his wife by silting their throats at Raniganj Kurshakatti village of Bilasipara in the Dhubri district. The incident was reported on Saturday.

The couple, named Shah Jalal Sheikh and Narzima Begum, were reportedly killed in their sleep.. Shah Jalal Sheikh was an advocate clerk (Bilasipara sub-division court) by profession.

The man and his wife both sustained several injuries besides their neck injuries.

On Sunday, a team from the Bilasipara Police arrived at the scene and took the body for a postmortem at Dhubri Medical College.

Despite conducting an investigation into the incident, police have not been able to arrest any of the perpetrators.

The couple's only child, Shahrina Yasmin, has pleaded for justice and urged the chief minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, to give severe punishments to the offenders.

I beg the chief minister of Assam for justice and demand that the people who killed my parents be hanged until they die. This kind of suffering shouldn't be experienced by other kids or girls like me. As soon as possible, the culprit must be captured, said Shahrina in front of the media.

On the other hand, political party and organisation officials who arrived at the scene slammed the Bilasipara police for failing to protect the general populace.

They also have threatened to close down the entire Dhubri administration if the offenders are not caught as soon as possible.
