Digital Desk: Drones Tech Lab, a drone start-up from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, will present a drone show at this year’s Republic Day event in Kamrup, Assam. The event will be the first of its kind in the region.

Drones produced by this lab have effectively provided solutions in various fields, including disaster relief, agriculture, surveying, and mapping.

“Drones developed at IIT Guwahati have been used for speedier data collecting in a variety of tasks, including land survey, river mapping, agriculture, healthcare, and disaster management.” said IIT Guwahati Director TG Sitharam.

Sitharam added, “IIT Guwahati will make every effort to provide state and regional drone-based services to the state. The drone demonstration on Republic Day will serve to publicize this technology for the benefit of the general population.”

Drones Tech Lab, one of the start-ups of IIT Guwahati Research Park, has been in the vanguard, both technologically and creatively, in promoting disaster management in the aftermath of Cyclone ‘Amphan’ by providing drone technology to frontline workers.

Over the years, these drones have been credited with assisting in resolving several major difficulties in India’s North East and Eastern regions.

These drones have been employed to overcome obstacles in India’s Northeast and Eastern areas over the years. Moreover, as per the institute, these drones have been employed in disaster management during floods in Majuli and in preventing dengue fever in Kolkata.

Drones Tech Labs’ Biswajit Dey expressed his happiness said, “We want to deliver drone services to the region using all of our knowledge and broaden our reach to all industries conceivable. This will tremendously assist the general public by improving numerous services in less time and with greater efficiency.”

Moreover, in Karnataka, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Assam, and Meghalaya, the Lab has served a variety of markets. The survey and mapping work has been conducted in various fields, including mining, where the exact volume is determined with absolute accuracy utilizing drones.

The Drones Tech Lab has revolutionized the survey sector, and its solutions are being used in a variety of departments for diverse land surveys.
