IIT Guwahati to host first Youth20 Group Meet 2023 from Feb 6-8

The Y20 Summit is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for youth to give constructive policy ideas and to use the platform to communicate their opinions to a global audience. 

Digital Desk: The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati will host the first Youth20 (Y20) Group Meet 2023 from February 6 to 8, 2023. The Y20 Summit is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for youth to give constructive policy ideas and to use the platform to communicate their opinions to a global audience. It is one of eight formal engagement groups operating under the aegis of the G20.

The G20 rotating presidency is responsible for hosting the youth summit, which normally takes place a few weeks before the regular forum in order to learn what the youths are thinking and incorporate their views into their own policy proposals. It is an attempt to establish a link between G20 countries and their local youth.

WHAT YOUTH20 INDIA SUMMIT 2023

The Youth 20 India Summit will bring together G20 trustees of our future generations to deliberate, discuss, and infer new, sustainable, and effective ideas, particularly in the field of social development.

"The future of the world rests in the hands of youth," stated Professor Parameswar K Iyer, Officiating Director, IIT Guwahati, speaking about the first Y20 Group Meet sponsored by IIT Guwahati. The Y20 Meet, organized by IIT Guwahati, will provide a unique chance for the youth to voice their perspectives on a worldwide scale. The meeting will centre on global young leadership for a prosperous, inclusive, and developed society."

Further Professor Iyer stated, “IIT Guwahati will showcase its contribution through knowledge and innovation initiatives and advocate for brand Assam and the Northeast Region of enhanced collaboration through this G20 meeting."

The priority areas of the Y20 Summit point to the urgency with which the world has to reconcile with the reality of the changing times in our quest to survive and thrive. Themes of the Y20 Summit include –

• Future of Work: Industry 4.0, Innovation and 21st Century skills
• Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction: Making Sustainability a way of life
• Peacebuilding and Reconciliation: Ushering in an era of No War
• Shared Future: Youth in Democracy
• Governance and Health, Wellbeing and Sports: Agenda for Youth

With these, the Y20 Summit will place a strong emphasis on global young leadership and collaboration. In the run-up to the final Youth-20 Summit, there will be pre-summits on the five Y20 topics, as well as various talks and seminars at various universities across India.
