Digital Desk: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for four northeastern states—West Bengal, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Tripura—indicating the possibility of heavy rainfall over the next two days.
Dr. Naresh Kumar, an IMD scientist, confirmed that the alert is in effect for today and tomorrow, with severe rain expected in these regions. Additionally, other states such as Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and the South Peninsular region are also predicted to experience significant rainfall.
The IMD's forecast extends over the next 5-7 days, with heavy rain expected in Northwestern India, particularly in Uttar Pradesh. This sustained period of intense weather could lead to disruptions and possible flooding in affected areas.
Meanwhile, Delhi has seen a break from high humidity following recent showers. IMD scientist Soma Sen mentioned that while rainfall will decrease from August 17 onwards, light rain may continue intermittently, offering some relief from the recent heavy downpours.
