Digital Desk: The Indian Railways established its first tea store, which will be entirely maintained and managed by transgender people, in the Guwahati train station in Assam, in a historic move.
The first facility of its kind in a national railroad station was opened with the active participation of the All Assam Transgender Organization.
The North East Frontier Railway (NEFR) came up with and carried out the concept to build the "Trans tea shop" to strengthen the community, according to Sabyasachi De, a representative for the transgender community.

According to Gupta, this was a "first-of-its-kind endeavour by any government organisation in the country. He claims that NF Railway plans to open more tea shops like this one at nearby train stops.
The Assam Transgender Welfare Board's associate vice chair, Swati Bidhan Baruah, expressed optimism that more trans people would obtain rehabilitation in the future through various government programs.
