    Approximately 40 kg of cannabis were reportedly found during a police raid today at Hatigaon.

    Digital Desk: Guwahati Police arrested a large shipment of cannabis that had been brought illegally from the Hatigaon area on Sunday.

    Officials reported that when a car with the licence plate AS 01 R 0044 was stopped, it was searched, and cannabis was discovered.

    According to police, the operation was conducted in Bihari Basti in the Guwahati neighbourhood of Hatigaon.

    In addition, two others were detained in relation to the significant drug bust. The two were named as Maidi Daimary and Gopal Basumatary by the authorities.

    It should be recalled that on December 11, the Assam Police recovered cannabis and foreign alcohol during separate events in the state.

    Regarding the foreign alcohol, an operation in the Dhubri district resulted in the seizure of up to 85 bottles of foreign alcohol.

    On December 4, police at Churaibari near the border of the states of Assam and Tripura made a significant drug-related breakthrough when they found 400 kg of cannabis.

    A trap was set by the Karimganj Police based on specific intelligence about a potential narcotics trafficking attempt. Police stopped a Tripura-bound truck during the operation.
    Officials at the inspection station searched the vehicle with the licence plate TR 01 C 1871, and 40 bundles totaling about 400 kilograms of cannabis were found inside.

    The vehicle was coming from Agartala and was going to Assam, according to the officials. According to authorities, one person, the truck driver, was detained on suspicion of importing cannabis.

    The large seizure is thought to have a market value of almost Rs 20 lakhs abroad.
