Manipur Violence: Insurgents’ role suspected in Kwakta blast, probe handed over to NIA
A suo moto case was filed in this regard at the Phougakchao Ikhai Police Station, and an inquiry into the occurrence was launched.

Digital Desk: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the investigation into the June 21 (Wednesday) bomb incident in Manipur's Kwakta area.

On June 21, around 7:10 p.m., there was an explosion over a bridge in the Kwakta region along Tiddim Road. Some unknown miscreants hid the device inside a four-wheeler parked over the bridge.

The blast damaged a section of the bridge on the western side, and three boys were injured. All of the injured were taken to Bishnupur District Hospital.

A suo moto case was filed in this regard at the Phougakchao Ikhai Police Station, and an inquiry into the occurrence was launched.

According to initial investigations, the vehicle was coming from the Churachandpur side.

The case has been transferred to the NIA by the Manipur Police because the involvement of rebels operating in the state and beyond the border is highly suspected.

Earlier today, Union Home Minister Amit Shah presided over an all-party meeting in Manipur to review the current situation.
