Digital Desk: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has ordered the police to enquire into the alleged attack on the car of Congress leader Jairam Ramesh in the state's Sonitpur district.

Taking to X, the Assam CM directed DGP GP Singh to register a case and enquire into the allegations.

"Pl register a case and enquire into the allegations @gpsinghips @DGPAssamPolice," said CM Sarma as he shared Jairam Ramesh's X post where he made the claims.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said today that a group of BJP workers attacked his car in the Sonitpur district of Assam.

Ramesh said that the BJP workers had attacked his car in Jamugurihat and removed the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra sticker off the windshield in a video he posted on the social networking platform X. Additionally, the Congress said that shouted slogans and threw water at the car.

"My vehicle was attacked a few minutes ago at Jumugurihat, Sunitpur by an unruly BJP crowd who also tore off the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra stickers from the windshield. They threw water and shouted anti-BJNY slogans. But we kept our composure, waved to the hooligans, and sped away," said Ramesh.

In the social media video that Ramesh posted, a group of men—some of whom were holding BJP flags—were blocking his car. Even as the car tried to make its way, Ramesh was spotted waving to the people outside.

Additionally, the Congress said that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma would be responsible for the incident.
