The surrendered truck driver has been identified as Sumit Kumar.
The truck driver was previously accused of the accident that killed sub-inspector Junmoni Rabha.
Following his surrender, Sumit Kumar, an Uttar Pradesh native, was immediately arrested by the Jakhalabandha police. The arrest of the driver is likely to shed light on the circumstances behind this terrible tragedy.

In the midst of several dramatic twists and turns in the death case of Junmoni Rabha, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated on Thursday that he is willing to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) if the family of the deceased police official demands it.
CM Sarma told the media, "There are many aspects involved in the incident. Therefore, criticizing the deceased would be unfair. Similarly, blaming the entire police department for the occurrence is unfair. If the family members of the deceased police officer request it, I am willing to hand over the case to the CBI."
CM Sarma added that the smuggling of fake gold continues from Lakhimpur and other regions of the state and that the police have been trying to crack down on every available aspect for the past three years.
Meanwhile, the CID Assam conducted an interrogation at the Nagaon police guest house on Thursday in connection with the mysterious death of Kaliabor SI Junmoni Rabha.
