Kaziranga National Park to reopen for tourists on October 1

Digital Desk: Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam will reopen to tourists on October 1 after its annual monsoon closure, according to an official announcement on September 8. Park Director Sonali Ghosh confirmed that initially, only three ranges—central Kohora, western Bagori, and Burapahar—will be accessible to visitors for jeep safaris. This decision considers the road conditions post-flooding.

Safari timings are scheduled in two shifts: 7:30 am to 10:00 am and 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. Ghosh highlighted that the focus for the upcoming tourist season will be on improving visitor experience and safety.

Kaziranga, famed for its stunning landscapes and rich biodiversity, including the iconic one-horned rhinoceros, remains a premier destination for families and wildlife enthusiasts. The park, which closes every May for the monsoon, faced significant losses this year, with nearly 200 animals perishing in the floods.
