LPG prices hiked by Rs 100, check new rates

New Delhi: Oil marketing companies hiked the prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for commercial usage. The price of 19-kg cylinder has been hiked by Rs 100 per cylinder. The previous hike was reported on November 1.

Following today’s hike, large metro cities will see change in commercial cylinder price from today. Starting with Delhi, the price of 19-kg commercial cylinder will now cost Rs 2,101, while in Mumbai it will cost Rs 2,051 per cylinder.

It is worth mentioning here that this is the second highest price hike of 19kg commercial cylinder after 2012-13 when it used to cost around Rs 2,200 per cylinder. In Kolkata and Chennai it will cost Rs 2,174.50 and Rs 2,234.50 per cylinder respectively.

However, there is respite for households as there was no hike in domestic LPG prices by oil marketing companies. The price of a non-subsidized 14.2 kg domestic cylinder in Delhi remains unchanged at Rs 899.50 per cylinder, while the new rate of 5kg domestic cylinder stands at Rs 502.

The difference between prices of 14.2kg domestic cylinder and 19kg commercial cylinder has been increased. Presently, a 14.2kg Domestic cylinder in the national capital cost Rs 899.50 and the 19kg cylinder commercial cylinder is costing Rs 2,101.

Industry experts say this massive price difference in domestic and commercial PG may lead to diversion of 14.2kg domestic gas cylinder for commercial purposes.
