Digital Desk: Never-ending traffic, and hurried riding, are just a few of the issues you'll have to deal with when the long wait comes to an end on 30th August with the opening of Maligaon Flyover, Assam's longest flyover.

The project, designed by the Assam PWP and built by a joint venture of Shree Gautam Construction Co Ltd and Anupam Nirman Pvt Ltd, is an important milestone in the development of Guwahati's road network.

Key Specs of the Maligaon Flyover:

The flyover, which runs from Maligaon Chariali to Kamakhya Gate on AT Road, has an extended arm that connects to Pandu Ghat Feeder Road, thereby connecting two important districts of the city.

Furthermore, the flyover's extended arm towards Pandu Ghat is a 300-meter-long two-lane section built to meet the needs of commuters heading in that area.

The steel guarder structure of the Maligaon Flyover is one of its most notable characteristics. An outstanding 20,000 tonnes of steel were used in its construction, attesting to the project's rigorous design and execution.

This project was accompanied by a team of around 1,500 qualified professionals. The main bridge, with 59 precisely aligned pillars, is a testament to modern engineering expertise. Illustration plays a critical role in guaranteeing safety and visibility on the flyover, particularly at night. The Maligaon Flyover is ornamented with 210 light posts strategically placed at 35-meter intervals along its length.

This innovative upgrade is set to improve the safety and convenience of commuters using the flyover, cementing its place in the city's infrastructural landscape.

The project's foundation stone was placed in October 2020, signalling the beginning of a journey that will soon finish with its inauguration.

Following a nearly three-year wait, residents of Guwahati can now look forward to a better and more efficient commute experience as the flyover goes operational.

As the countdown to the inauguration begins, excitement and anticipation are apparent among Guwahati locals.

The flyover's four-lane breadth along AT Road, reaching 2630.00 metres, intends to relieve traffic congestion and drastically reduce travel times for daily commuters, particularly to the Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport.

The width of the flyover along AT Road is 15 metres (7.5 metres on either side), allowing for a large number of vehicles.

The flyover, which is the city's longest, is intended to change the way people navigate the city's busy roads.

The opening of the Maligaon Flyover tomorrow will mark an important milestone in Guwahati's drive towards improved urban links and reliable mobility.
