Digital Desk: In a major setback to the saffron party in Manipur, another BJP legislator resigned from his administrative post on Monday, the fourth MLA from the ruling party in the northeastern state to do so this month.

BJP MLA from Uripok, Khwairakpam Raghumani, has stepped down as chairman of the Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA).

Raghumani stated in his resignation letter to the chief minister, N Biren Singh, that he was leaving the position due to "personal reasons, as well as in the public interest, it is felt that my continuous chairmanship of MANIREDA is not called for at this point."

The saffron party's state branch has been hit by a string of MLA resignations from administrative positions, sparking suspicion of turmoil in the Biren Singh government.

Thokchom Radhesyam resigned as the chief minister's advisor on April 8, while Langthabal MLA Karan Shyam resigned as chairman of Tourism Corporation Manipur Limited on April 17. Both legislators claimed "not being given any responsibility" as the reason for their resignations.

Wangjing Tentha MLA Paonam Brojen resigned as chairman of the Manipur Development Society on April 20, claiming "personal reasons." The CM stated that there was "no crisis in the party" following a BJP meeting on April 21.
