Digital Desk: The interstate border is yet again in turmoil as a fresh conflict between the Jaintia (Pnars) and Karbi communities broke out at Khanduli village along the interstate border in the West Jaintia Hills District on Thursday evening.

Reportedly, the incident erupted after the Dorbar Shnong of the Khanduli decided to stop the Karbi people from commuting through the village. This came after a group of Karbi people allegedly threatened the villagers from going to their paddy fields.

Stone pelting, fighting, and the torching of two huts were also reported during the conflict.

Reportedly, two people from Karbi Anglong were injured and were sent to a hospital in Hojai for treatment.

During the incident, the irate mob also attacked the SP of West Jaintia Hills' official vehicle.

The SP, however, escaped unharmed, but his vehicle was partly damaged.

Meanwhile, the district administrations of Meghalaya and Assam have taken steps to stabilize the situation and have increased security along the interstate border.
