The two relief camps that the committee members visited include the Residential School, Lamboikhongnangkhong in Imphal West, and the 143 Battalion CRPF in Lamphel.

Digital Desk: On Saturday, members of the three-member Commission of Inquiry visited two relief camps and spoke with people from both groups as part of their investigation into the events that sparked the violence in Manipur.

The two relief camps that the committee members visited include the Residential School, Lamboikhongnangkhong in Imphal West, and the 143 Battalion CRPF in Lamphel.

The members also talked with members of both communities and patiently listened to camp residents as they described the difficulties they had to deal with due to the ethnic violence. They also promised people that all of their complaints would be taken seriously.

All parties involved have been asked by the committee's members to provide a written affidavit to the committee upon request. They also appealed the people to assist with the investigation, maintain their calm, and help in bringing back peace in the state.

On June 4, the Central Government established a three-member Commission of Inquiry to look into the circumstances surrounding the May 3 outbreak of violence in Manipur.

The three-person Commission of Inquiry is made up of Justice Ajai Lamba, a former Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, former IAS official Himanshu Shekhar Das, and former IPS officer Aloka Prabhakar.
The commission must submit its report to the Central Government within six months of the date of its first meeting. The commission's offices are in Imphal, the capital of Manipur.
