Digital Desk: The Child Protection Commission filed a case on Saturday (May 6) against the doctor couple in connection with a minor abuse case in Guwahati, Assam.

The commission claims that the couple illegally adopted the child.

The Guwahati Police are also probing the issue and have ordered the accused to present documents verifying their legality.

Notably, Dr. Waliul Islam has previously faced accusations of abusing minors. In 2017, he appeared before the Child Protection Commission in a similar matter, which resulted in a negative decision by the commission.

Earlier, a complaint was filed against Waliul for physically and mentally torturing his ex-wife and child.

Waliul Islam and his caretaker were apprehended on Saturday morning.

The accused were booked under several sections of the law and are scheduled to appear in court this afternoon.

However, Waliul's wife, Sangeeta Dutta, who is also charged in the crime, is currently on the run.

Earlier on Friday night, Sangeeta went live on Facebook and stated that every allegation leveled against the couple is false and that people are attempting to frame both of them.
