    More trouble for suspended DIG Raunak Ali Hazarika, dupes couple amounting to lakhs

    Guwahati: Suspended Assam Police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Raunak Ali Hazarika has entered in yet other fresh charges of duping a couple, the report said.





    As per reports, Anil Chandra Talukdar and his wife, who sold their land to Raunak Ali Hazarika in 2002, alleged that till now, they didn’t receive full payment for the sold land.





    Sources quoted, Hazarika brought the land in the city’s Hengrabari area from Anil Chandra Talukdar against Rs. 19 lakhs. Though he had paid around 16.32 lakhs for the property, the last cheque of Rs. 2.68 lakhs have been allegedly bounced. When Talukdar is informed about it, Hazarika gives him a life threat.

    In this regard, Mazumdar reached the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell, where they recorded the statement of Anil Chandra Talukdar and his wife in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) on Tuesday.





    In connection with it, a case will be registered under the Negotiable Instruments Act against suspended DIG, reports said.





    Earlier, during enquiry, it was found that Hazarika had possessed immovable and movable assets that were disproportionate to his known sources of income from 1992 to 2021 while he was posted in Bongaigaon district. A preliminary probe revealed that Hazarika has disproportionate assets of around 164.80 percent.
