Gangtok: Sikkim’s National Highway 10 remained completely blocked at the 29th mile due to multiple landslides, triggered by heavy rainfall. Vehicles are being diverted from the area and JCBs have been brought in to clear the landslide, reports. The problem of landslides on the National Highway has been causing inconvenience to the people time and again.
Footballer, Bhaichung Bhutia, from the region has pointed out the issue of the highway and told, ‘Sikkim deserves better and bigger highway connectivity. Bhutia recently took a road trip from Siliguri to Gangtok. In a video, Bhutia showed how the landslide has blocked the highway in some parts which have caused difficulty to the travellers. He showed the miserable condition of the road.
“There is no improvement… it is dangerous as fresh stones have fallen off from the top’, he added showing his viewers the risk at which the commuters are travelling via the highway.
