    Digital Desk: Following the successful implementation of the Nagaland Health Project (NHP), which was helped by the World Bank, the organisation has expressed significant interest in giving support for the future Nagaland Health System Strengthening Project (NHSSP). 

    The statement was made on Friday at the World Bank office in New Delhi during a meeting between World Bank Country Director Auguste Tano Kouame and Nagaland's Health and Family Welfare Minister P Paiwang Konyak.

    During the discussion, Kouame assured Minister Konyak that he would urge the Indian government that the new project be supported. Kouame congratulated the NHP team on the successful completion of the previous project, adding that despite only recently taking over as national director, he was already aware of the positive outcomes achieved. He thanked the Naga administration and the state's health and family welfare department for their efforts.

    Kouame further indicated that the planned initiative may assist the state earn fiscal money, involve the private sector through PPPs, and provide job possibilities through pre-service training. He also supported the organisation of virtual meetings with other World Bank-funded governments and countries to exhibit the best practices done under the NHP.

    Minister Konyak complimented the World Bank for its assistance, notably in the health sector. He highlighted the problems confronting the state's health sector and thanked the bank for its assistance in the successful implementation of the NHP, as evidenced by demonstrable improvements. Konyak emphasised that treating health issues is a complex process that requires ongoing efforts, and he urged the World Bank to give ongoing assistance.

    Commissioner and Secretary of the state's Health and Family Welfare Department, Y Kikheto Sema, also expressed gratitude to the World Bank for sponsoring numerous initiatives in Nagaland, including those in the health, education, and agriculture sectors. 

    According to Sema, the proposed NHSSP intends to address infrastructure shortages in health centres and offer suitable housing for healthcare staff. He emphasised that the state government's objective of providing affordable and accessible healthcare to its inhabitants is significantly reliant on the availability of robust infrastructure facilities.
