Nagaon, Karimganj, Dhubri are difficult seats for BJP: Assam CM Sarma

Digital Desk: The chief minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, termed the Lok Sabha seats of Nagaon, Karimganj, and Dhubri as challenging for the BJP, acknowledging that a major effort is required to achieve any meaningful progress in those seats. 

CM Sarma responded to the clamour among Congress candidates for the Nagaon seat, stating that although there is competition within the party, Nagaon is an excellent seat for Congress. Though he acknowledged that there is still more work to be done, he acknowledged that the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency, along with the Karimganj and Dhubri seats, are challenging areas for the BJP.

The Assam chief minister made his remarks after learning that Congress leaders Gaurav Gogoi, Pradyut Bordoloi, and Rakibul Hussain are allegedly in a contest for the Nagaon Lok Sabha seat.

"Obviously, there will be more competitors in a good position. For us, Nagaon is not the best seat. To make significant progress in that direction, we are convening in Nagaon today. For us, the most challenging seats are those in Nagaon, Karimganj, and Dhubri. Additionally, the AIUDF and Congress have the best seats here. Those vying for a good seat will congregate like bees. That is not particularly exceptional. Congress will inevitably lose in the remaining seats. Nagaon will be Pradyut Bordoloi's choice if he wants to win. Gaurav Gogoi has also decided on Nagaon. For that matter, Rakibul Hussain will select Nagaon as well. They would inevitably fail wherever else they go," CM Sarma said.

It is noteworthy that the Congress is thought to have a strong candidate for the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency. This time, Assam Congress leader Rakibul Hussain and incumbent MP Pradyut Bordoloi have put in their resumes as candidates for the Congress nomination for the Nagaon seat. Furthermore, Kaliabar MP Gaurav Gogoi has surfaced as an additional candidate for the Congress ticket from Nagaon. This is because the Kaliabar Lok Sabha seat was eliminated and merged into the newly established Kaziranga Lok Sabha seat during the most recent Assamese delimitation campaign.
