No Vaccine, No Puja: Assam Government issues SOP for Durga Puja

Guwahati: The pandemic is going to be a dampener for Puja celebrations this year even as states get ready for the festive month. Taking into consideration the present covid scenario, the state government of Assam has permitted to hold Puja celebrations in the state with few guidelines in place.

Puja organizing committees will have to take the District Commissioner's permission to organize Puja.

All puja committee members have to submit their Covid 19 vaccination certificate (at least one vaccine dose) to DC while taking permission to organize Puja.

Puja mandap will have to be spacious, so that no unnecessary crowding takes place and social distancing is maintained. All mandaps will have separate entry and exit gates as well.

Keeping in mind the ongoing pandemic, no melas or bazaars will be allowed this time.

On Panchami, all pujaris and members of the organizing committee will be tested for Covid 19. Further, they will be tested for covid again after Dashami.

Cultural programmes are completely banned this time.

The organizing committees have to ensure that the mandaps and pandals will have to be regularly sanitized.

Citizens below 18 years are exempted from the above mentioned guidelines.
