One arrested from Dhemaji in Assam Down Town University student's suicide case

Digital Desk: One person was arrested from Dhemaji in connection to the death of a student by suicide in a PG in Guwahati. The girl was a student at Assam Down Town University in the city and had committed suicide in a PG in Panikhaiti recently.

Following an investigation, Pragjyotshpur Police detained Dhemaji resident Prafulla Kachari. There are reports that he is a student leader.  It can be noted that the victim also belonged to Dhemaji and a few pictures of the girl and the arrested person in compromised positions were discovered by her family members. After which the girl had taken the extreme step.

Reports further claimed that Prafulla had secretly married a university student.

It may be mentioned that on January 24, an FIR was lodged by the girl's family at Pragjyotishpur police station and registered a case on 18/2024. Later, the police official arrested the student leader under section 306/36 (IPC).

Student leader Prafulla Kasari is currently lodged at Dhemaji Sadar police station.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
