Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a beacon of Assamese culture during a spirited rally, highlighting Modi's profound impact on promoting the Assamese Gamosa beyond the state's borders.
Sarma, addressing the crowd, emphasized Modi's unique affinity for the Assamese Gamosa, noting his consistent display of wearing it during his visits across the country. He likened Modi to a brand ambassador for the Gamosa, citing his influence in popularizing it among people from diverse backgrounds.
The Chief Minister highlighted Modi's efforts in showcasing Assamese culture globally, including his recognition of the Bihu dance and the posthumous conferment of the Bharat Ratna on legendary musician Bhupen Hazarika. With Modi's frequent visits to Assam—27 times during his tenure—Sarma praised his unwavering commitment to the state, contrasting it with the actions of previous Prime Ministers.
Sarma also credited Modi's leadership for the significant reduction in violent incidents in Assam, including bombings and shootings, as well as the quelling of movements such as the Bodo and Karbi insurgencies. He attributed the prevailing peace and stability in the region to Modi's adept handling of security concerns, asserting the diminishing influence of insurgent groups like ULFA.
