Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will head to Arunachal Pradesh on November 19, where he will dedicate the 600 MW Kameng Hydro Power Station to the country and inaugurate the Donyi Polo Airport in Itanagar.
The airport's name reflects Arunachal's ancient indigenous traditions of veneration for the Sun (donyi) and the Moon (polo), as well as the state's rich cultural legacy.
The airport, which is the first new airport in Arunachal Pradesh, was built over an area of more than 690 acres at a cost of more than 640 crores, according to a statement from the PMO. The airport can operate throughout any daytime weather because of its 2300 m runway. The airport terminal is a reducing structure that supports resource recycling, renewable energy, and energy efficiency.
The construction of a new airport in Itanagar will help the region's economic development by increasing connectivity and serving as a stimulus for the expansion of trade and tourism.
According to a press release from PMO, "Prime Minister will also dedicate 600 MW Kameng Hydro Power Station to the Nation during the programme. The project, which was built in the West Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh at a cost of more than 8,450 crores and over an area of more than 80 kilometres, will make Arunachal Pradesh a power-surplus state and boost the National Grid in terms of grid stability and integration."
This initiative will make a significant contribution to the nation's achievement of its objective to enhance the adoption of green energy.
