    Poll bugle to sound soon, major campaigns ahead of by-polls in Assam

    Guwahati: Assam state ministers have already begun preparing for the upcoming Assam by-elections by participating in various party meets across the state, just ahead of their major poll campaigns. 





    The entire BJP government is on its track to get as much attention as possible ahead of by-polls. Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal has hit the campaigns trail for bye-polls in Assam.





    Sonowal addressed various election campaigns under the Thowra LAC. The rally was forced out in support of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Sushanta Borgohain. The minister approached meetings at Bam Rajabari, Nangolamara, and Khorahat Tea Estate under the Thowra constituency.





    Including Sonowal other Union MoS such as Rameswar Teli, Ministers Bimal Bora, Jogen Mohan, MPs Pradan Baruah, Queen Oja, Bhubaneswar Kalita were present in the meeting.





    In contrast, the opposition party leaders raised concern over Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and his speeches in the campaigns. 





    Assam CM Sarma visited several places for campaign meets ahead of by-polls to support the ruling party candidates. Sarma used catchwords like "Jati-Mati-Bheti safeguard" for his campaigns speech.

    "The BJP's promises made for the welfare of women, tea garden workers and the unemployed in the last election have already turned out to be futile," stated Assam CM Sarma during his campaigns speech.





    On Wednesday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma participated in a campaign rally for BJP candidate Phanidhar Takukdar in Bhabanipur. He took part in the election rally at Gati Shanti Mandir Raas ground. He urged the people to vote for Phanidhar Talukdar.





    Earlier, CM Sarma on October 21 visited the Thowra constituency. His visit was to drum backing for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He raised support for BJP candidate Sushanta Borgohain in the upcoming by-polls on October 30.





    The CM also announced several developmental schemes for the constituency, including setting up a medical college. Sarma also announced that financial assistance to 15,000 families under the government's Orunodoi Scheme in the campaigns .





    With the ongoing campaigns ahead of orders notified by the Election Commission of India, opposition leaders raised their opinions. Congress claimed that CM Sarma has made promises and claims in public gatherings before ECI issued model code of conduct.
