Digital Desk: The much-anticipated Assamese film 'Sri Raghupati,' starring Ravi Sarma, will not be released on Friday due to a dispute over the film's production and distribution rights.
After hearing the case, a lower court issued a stay order on the film's distribution, which was set for today. The stay order was issued by the Kamrup (M) District and Sessions Judge Court in response to claims of breach of contract with erstwhile producer Suruj Sarma.
After the lower court halted the film's release till July 15, producer Salen Kumar Sharma, whose 'Maniratna Entertainment' was set to release the picture today, had to move the Gauhati High Court about the matter.
Meanwhile, the next hearing in the case will be held on Monday, after which a decision on when the film can be given to the public will be made.
According to the lower court's order, the petitioner, Dhritimaan Sarma and his father Suruj Sarma, whose 'Locus Creative Production' had a pact with the filmmakers for its release rights, complained after the posters revealed that the film was set to be released under the banner of 'Maniratna Entertainment' of the respondents Mayurakshee Sharma and her father Salen Sharma.
It should be mentioned that the film 'Sri Raghupati' starring Ravi Sarma was scheduled to be released on June 2. Preety Kongana, Priyam Pallavi, Siddhartha Sarma, Arun Nath, and Arun Hazarika are among the cast members.
