Digital Desk: In a statement from Meghalaya Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh, the regional committees of Assam and Meghalaya would meet here on August 26 ahead of their joint tour to disputed Langpih along the interstate border.
"Both committees will be meeting here this August 26 as we prepare to go to ground zero and meet with the people in the area," Lyngdo, the chairperson of one of Meghalaya's three regional committees informed media the members.
The regional committees of the two states agreed in Guwahati to visit Langpih in Meghalaya's West Khasi Hills district to meet stakeholders, local representatives, and citizens before finalising the interstate border.
The Langpih region is an area of dispute between Meghalaya and Assam, and four people were killed there in 2010 during the most intense phase of the conflict.
According to Lyngdoh, the regional committee from Assam had also indicated its "receptiveness" to the suggestion that villages in Meghalaya that have been determined to be problem-free and whose locals have a propensity to be included with it.
