    SSB observes its 58th Foundation Day

    Tezpur: Sashastra Seemal Bal or previously known as the 'Special Services Bureau', which was formed post the Indo-China war 1962, celebrated its 58th Foundation Day at the 68 Battalion Headquarters of Devendra Nagar in SSB.





    On the occasion of foundation day organized by SSB's Tezpur Frontier, Inspector General of Tezpur Frontier, Pradeep Kumar Gupta paid homage at the ‘Swahid Smarak’ of veer jawans and officials who laid down their lives to protect the sovereignty and integrity of the country.





    After this, the Inspector General of SSB's 68Battalion attended and saluted the ‘march past’  at the  Brahmaputra Parade ground performed by the SSB jawans.





    The force is taking various initiatives to bring the youth from far-flung areas into the mainstream through welfare programs and civic-action programs. The SSB was transferred under the administrative control of the MHA in 2001 and assigned the duties in Nepal, Bhutan borders and renamed as the Sashatra Seema Bal (SSB).





    He also said in his speech that the SSB is formed to provide security to the people of the region after the Indo- China War.





    He said that the SSB under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India is currently entrusted with the responsibility of The Indo-Bhutan and India-Nepal International Border. 





    The Inspector-General honored eight officers who won the SSB Director General's medal and 27 silver medals at the ceremony.





    SSB's 68Battalion captain Madhukar Amitabh honored the officers with medals as well as a letter of appreciation from the Inspector General.





    The event featured specially trained Dog shows, skills, and weapons development of the SSB, the event was also graced with cultural performances and Bihu dance.
