    Digital Desk: An explosion at the Darranga Field Firing Ranges in Assam claimed the life of a soldier, according to an official notification on Tuesday.

    The deceased soldier was identified in the announcement as Craftsman Sandeep Kumar.

    According to the press announcement, Cfn Sandeep Kumar, a courageous soldier, died at the Darranga Field Firing Ranges on May 1, 2023, when a bomb occurred while he was on sentry duty there. A regimental medical officer who was stationed at the range immediately treated him on the spot after receiving severe explosion-related injuries.

    He was then airlifted to the Base hospital in Guwahati, where he later passed away from his wounds, the report said.

    Furthermore, it came into focus that Cfn Sandeep Kumar was from the Himachal Pradesh district of Mandi and had left behind his wife and a one-year-old son.

    "The Indian Army extends its condolences and stands firm with the bereaved family of the soldier killed in the incident. An investigation has been undertaken to figure out the facts of this incident," the statement concluded.
