Guwahati: Suman Swargiary was planning to visit his home this December. Excited for a long vacation, Suman was looking forward to spend his time with his three-year-old son Barad Swargiary and wife Juri Swargiary. State health minister Keshab Mahanta was present at the airport on behalf of the state government to pay his last respects to the martyr.

The remains arrived in his hometown in Barama where he will be laid with full state honours. Meanwhile, people from nearby villages also arrived to pay their last respects to the remains.

Tears continue to roll down. Looking confused, Swargiary’s three-year-old kid is unable to comprehend the atmosphere inside his home, while his mother is inconsolable. He continues to stare at his father’s photo, maybe thinking, he will return and pick him up in his arms and once again sing the songs of the brave heroes.

Two days ago, Commanding Officer of 46 Assam Rifles, Colonel Viplav Tripathi his wife and 8-year-old son, and four soldiers including Suman Swargiary, lost their lives in a terrorist attack on a convoy of Assam Rifles Churachandpur, Manipur.

The nation mourns today and condemns the dastardly attack on the innocents.
