In November of last year, the TMC took over as the main opposition force in the Meghalaya Assembly after 12 of the state's 17 Congress MLAs defected to the party led by Mamata Banerjee.
Digital Desk: National general secretary of the Trinamool Congress, Abhishek Banerjee will make a two-day visit to Meghalaya on Thursday with an eye toward the state's upcoming legislative elections.
On November 17, Banerjee will open a party office in Garo Hills, according to a TMC official.
"On November 18, he will speak with church elders at Tura's Sacred Heart Shrine and host a community gathering at the city's brand-new playground. There, he will converse with journalists as well. An organisational meeting with the state's leaders is set for Banerjee," a TMC official said .

The TMC had been attempting to broaden its support base in Goa, Haryana, Tripura, and Meghalaya after its resounding victory in the assembly elections in West Bengal in 2021.
The party previously contested in the Goa assembly elections and the Tripura municipal elections.
