Kolkata: In motion for a power packed year-end itinerary, Mamata Banerjee is expected to visit Assam today. With the tempo already rising across the country, Mamata Didi, as she is fondly called, has already made her strides in various states by reaching out to more people by projecting the idea of what Trinamool Congress (TMC) can offer to the people.

With focus on good governance, citing examples of the Bengal government, Mamata Banerjee is expected to make a wave into the Northeast which has already seen its emphatic impact on Tripura.

Mamata Banerjee is expected to reach Assam today and seek blessings at the Kamakhya Temple and then head towards Shillong to meet her new team.

Banerjee plans to make her visits more frequent as the two prominent Northeastern states - Meghalaya and Tripura, prepares itself for the upcoming polls in the next one-and-a-half-years.

Banerjee's decision to reach out to each and every state of the country ahead of the impending polls for 2022, will help the Trinamool Congress party expand its branches.

But for the present, Banerjee is tied-up with multiple out-reach programme.

Meanwhile, the vote count for 144 wards is underway in Kolkata for the Kolkata Municipal Corporation as security has been tightened to avoid any untoward incidents of poll violence.

There was a fierce contest between Mamata led Trinamool Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while other parties are also in the fray.

The BJP has alleged the Municipal polls as farce following widespread violence led-by TMC and termed the Kolkata Police not capable of maintaining law and order during polls.
