Jorhat: The End - A headline less expected this morning yet flashed across various news channels, brought the much need respite to the hearts of the people of Jorhat and entire Assam following Kola Lora aka Niraj Das's death.
The prime accused of the Jorhat Mob lynching case, the ‘Kola Lora’ aka Niraj Das, died in a car accident at Cinamara Khariya Chuk while trying to escape police custody.

As per sources, Niraj Das tried to escape from the moving police jeep, in which he was escorted to the location where he has been operating his illegal drug trade. He was also observed to mislead one investigation officer (IO) and team in the pretext of recovery of NDPS material.
However, he got hit by a following escort car which got unbalanced and hit the wall.
Already booked in several criminal cases, yet released each time on bail, Kola Lora was notorious for his drug and alcohol addiction.
Animesh was killed falsely. A miscommunication that led to his death. Kola Lora died for his sins; killing an innocent life who had no role in the accident as alleged by him.
Jorhat Police's actions have been hailed across the state. By arresting the culprits and bringing the victim to justice, is what the entire state was expecting.
A day earlier, Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu visited the residence of Animesh Bhuyan, who was attacked by a violent mob a day ago in Jorhat. The minister assured that the state government would take all necessary steps to give justice to Animesh and the trial of the case will take place in the fast-track court.
Condoling the death of Animesh Bhuyan, minister Ranoj Pegu on the instruction of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, visited the residence of the victim at Khakandaguri village under Dergaon police station in Golaghat district. He was accompanied by Mariani MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi.
After receiving the news of Kola Lora's death, Animesh's grieving mother felt relieved on hearing the news as well as saddened by the fact that Kola Lora's mother too might be grieving today, as she lost a son too. Yet, the sins committed by Kola Lora was timely addressed in the court of the almighty. The chapter of Kola Lora has been closed.
