Digital Desk: On April 23, the Tinsukia district government ordered that all schools and colleges in the district remain closed on April 24 due to the terrible hail and thunderstorm that took two lives and left a trail of ruin.

"Given the severe thunder and hailstorm that occurred on the night of 22/04/2023 and in the evening of 23/04/2023 resulting in a trail of devastation and considering the severity of the situation in the interest of the safety and security of the students, all schools and colleges of Tinsukia District will remain closed on 24/04/2023," stated the Tinsukia District's Deputy Commissioner's office on April 23.

As a result of the hailstorm, several families have been forced to flee their homes after witnessing nature's awful side.

The hailstorm was so powerful that it uprooted trees and damaged many homes in Digdari village.

According to reports, the affected families have approached Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the district authorities for assistance.

Aside from that, a destructive hailstorm on the night of April 22 caused significant property damage, power outages, and tree uprooting.

The hailstorm was so powerful that it severed the connection to the power grid, leaving the region without power.
