Digital Desk: Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Guwahati on Thursday afternoon. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed him at the airport's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI).

Ajanta Neog, Jayanta Mallabaruah, Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Lok Sabha MP Dilip Saikia, and BJP state president Bhabesh Kalita, among others, were also present at the airport.

Shah has departed for Koinadhora after landing in Guwahati.

He will take part in a key event today in the city where the state administration plans to provide 45,000 appointment letters to newly appointed youths across several government departments. The event will last about two hours, according to sources.

"Amit Shah will attend two events in Guwahati on Thursday. At Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, he will first lay the cornerstone for the National Forensic Science University, after which he will launch the university's temporary campus there,", CM Sarma said while speaking to media.

Assam Police will receive a new app from the state government, according to CM Sarma, that will allow FIRs to be electronically submitted in cases of murder, violence against women, and other crimes.

The Assam chief minister stated referring to the distribution of appointment letters to 45,000 unemployed youths, "All these youths have been picked through a procedure based on meritocracy and they would obtain regular government jobs under the Assam administration. Letters of appointment had previously been sent to about 42,000 young people. Out of the 1 lakh jobs we promised, this will represent about 88,000. We'll begin conducting interviews for another 22,000 government positions in July."
