Digital Desk: Following an official announcement, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will visit Assam and Tripura for two days starting on Friday.
She will take part in a ceremony in Guwahati to present officers and staff members of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) with Presidential Awards for Specially Distinguished Records of Service.
Additionally, 29 officials and employees of CBIC will receive the Presidential Award of Appreciation Certificate, which was announced on this year's Republic Day.
It is to be noted that they were chosen based on their sustained, excellent performance in their various fields of service.
According to a press release, the awardees this year include officers from all service cadres who have consistently performed admirably in their various assignments, including the prevention of smuggling, detection of tax evasion, detection of trade-based money laundering, and foreign exchange violations. They have also made contributions to the formulation of tax policy, the collection of revenue, the automation of business processes, and capacity building and training.
Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, Revenue Secretary Sanjay Malhotra, and CBIC Chairman Vivek Johri will all be present at the ceremony.
The statement further implied that the Union ministers would go to Tripura to witness the GST Bhavan's opening before visiting the Integrated Check Posts there the next day.
