Guwahati: The post mortem report of Dimple Kumawat, who was brutally murdered by her cousin on September 1, showed that the cause of her death was due to a brain haemorrhage that occurred due to multiple brain injuries.

The report also reveals fourteen brutal injuries on Dimple’s body, inflicted by a knife.

Earlier, Ashik Gupta, the accused who murdered Dimple, admitted that he killed Dimple Kumawat due to an altercation over a cigarette.

Upon Police interrogation, Ashik Gupta stated that she was bludgeoned to death with a pressure cooker, a ‘Pota guti’ (a kitchen tool used for grinding) and a knife.

Further, Gupta led the investigators to the place where he hid Dimple’s mobile phone and the sim card after killing her.

Meanwhile, the murder weapons, including a knife and grinding stone, were sent to the Forensic laboratory. After the forensic report, the police will file a charge sheet.

Reportedly, Ashik Gupta has been kept in Central Jail, Guwahati.

The victim found murdered at her house in Guwahati’s Uzan Bazaar was a student of class 8, of an English Medium School in Guwahati. She was alone in the house as her parents – Ashok Kumawat (father) and Anjali Kumawat (mother)– had proceeded to run their fast food joint in the area like other days. Her aunt first discovered the mutilated body at around noon.
