    Van Dhan Se Vikas: Assam to set up 400 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras to promote tribal art and craft

    Guwahati: Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda held a review meeting with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with officials of the Tribal Affairs department to discuss on the development of the tribal areas in the state.

    The Union Minister even presented the Van Dhan Award 2020-2021 to CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. The Tribal Affairs has awarded the Van Dhan National Award 2021-22 to TRISAM of Assam in category of Collaborative Initiative for co-branding in Van Dhan Yojana.





    While addressing the media personnel, Munda expressed his intent behind his two-day visit to the state. The minister will be reviewing the progress of the tribal areas and various schemes implemented for development of the tribal population of the state and the region.

    Munda highlighted the key points of the discussion that included ways to promote the artifacts and artisans of the tribal areas of Assam, ensuring quality education for the children from these areas, Eklavya Model Education, and the overall implementation of the schemes in these areas. Earlier in August, Chief Minister of Assam had met the TRIFED team in New Delhi to chalk out plans for expanding tribal development in the state and defining the steps for the way forward. These future plans to take tribal development to the next level were also showcases and discussed during this meeting.
