Guwahati: Assam Sports & Youth Welfare, Cultural Affairs, Power, Tourism Minister Bimal Borah in the presence of MP Queen Oja and other top officials of the state, flagged off the Vista Dome tourist special train connecting Guwahati-New Haflong today.
According to the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), the Vistadome tourist special trains will run between Guwahati-New Haflong in Assam and New Jalpaiguri-Alipurduar Junction in North Bengal.
Anshul Gupta, General Manager of Northern Frontier Railway highlighted the salient features of the special tourist train.
The special Vista Dome train service between Guwahati – New Haflong section will initially run two days a week, every Wednesday and Saturday, with stoppages at Manerderdisa and Maibong stations. The train will depart from Guwahati at 6:35 am and reach New Haflong at 11:55 am, covering a distance of 269 km through the North Cachar Hill region. During the return journey, the train will leave New Haflong at 5:00 pm to reach Guwahati at 10:45 pm.
With the introduction of the Vista Dome trains, the state government wishes to boost the tourism sector of the region which will also add on additional revenue for the railways and for the local people of these areas.
