Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Wednesday, unveiled ambitious plans for transforming Assam into a hub for sporting talent.

CM Sarma expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the collective vision of establishing India as a global sporting powerhouse. Enthusiastically envisioning Assam as the breeding ground for future football legends, Sarma highlighted the importance of top-notch infrastructure and a robust support system.

Taking to platform X, CM Sarma wrote, "Hon’ble Prime Minster Shri @narendramodi ji has the vision to establish Bharat as a great sporting power, and achieving this is our collective goal 🥅 . We, in Assam, love football and if we have the right infrastructure & support system – the next Messi, Ronaldo or Mbappé will come from our State!

In a significant stride towards this goal, the Chief Minister allocated substantial funds – Rs 600 crore for an international stadium in Guwahati and Rs 150 crore for the Kokrajhar stadium.

This substantial investment is poised to provide a major boost to the state's sporting landscape, nurturing talent and potentially giving rise to the next generation of football stars. Sarma's strategic focus on creating world-class sporting facilities underscores Assam's commitment to fostering athletic prowess and contributing significantly to the nation's sporting legacy.
