Abducted Cachar Forest officials released
Two Forest officials from Cachar who were allegedly abducted by an Executive Member of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council on Monday were released after few hours of their alleged ‘abduction’.
As per reports, a group of five unidentified miscreants stormed the Bandar Khal Forest Beat Office on Monday and abducted the officials at gunpoint. The officials have been identified as Ramendra Jidung and Shubhendu Daulagupu. The entire incident was captured by the surveillance cameras at the Bandar Khal Forest Beat Office.
Stone syndicate speculated behind the abduction
Meanwhile, State Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya stated that his department is probing the matter at the high level. He also mentioned that to curb such crimes, the department was brought under the surveillance of technological support.
Probe ordered at the alleged abduction
Cachar DFO Sunny Deo Choudhary informed that an FIR had been lodged in this regard.
Although the reason behind the abduction is yet to be ascertained, it is speculated that it is related to an involvement of a syndicate behind the illegal excavation of stones.
