Guwahati: The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), the regional party in alliance with the ruling BJP, will not go alone in the forth coming elections in the state. The party will fight the by-elections, the municipality and municipal board elections in Assam only as a partner of the BJP, the main party of the ruling front.
The matter was discussed in detail at the AGP general body meet held today which was attended by party seniors except for the former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta. The meeting also decided to accelerate a process of amending its constitution which was already underway.

The regional party chief Atul Bora briefed the media about the decisions taken by the party today. He said that steps are initiated to strengthen the organizational base of the party and a student wing will be opened in every district throughout Assam.
Regarding the NRC final list, published on August 31, 2019, the AGP leader said that the party was not satisfied with the list. He stressed on completing a foreigners-free NRC with no Indian citizen left out.
