All about Ambubachi Mela
The
event honours the motherhood and fertility goddess, who is thought to be one of
the 52 shakti peethas. Ambubachi's etymology can be traced to the phrase
"speaking with water." Water has always been connected to fertility
since the beginning of time. All agricultural tasks, including sowing, digging,
ploughing, etc., are forbidden throughout the festival.
The Ambubachi Festival, which is held during
the monsoon season, commemorates the goddess' first menstrual cycle. As a
result, the temple is closed for three days in accordance with the notion that
the goddess must take a break. Many followers have already begun to arrive to
request blessings from the respected goddess.
