Ambubachi Mela 2022: This Assamese holiday brings pilgrims from all across the nation to the city of Guwahati to pay respects to the Goddess Kamakhya and ask for her blessings. On June 22, the Ambubachi Festival at the Kamakhya temple officially begins and lasts through June 26. The COVID-19 pandemic caused the mela to experience a hiatus for two years. Due to the current flooding in Assam and the concern of an increase in COVID cases, there are some restrictions in place now that it has arrived.

Every year, the worshipers of Goddess Kamakhya eagerly anticipate the huge Ambubachi Mela celebrations, but this year, to their dismay, they will have to scale back their fervour in light of the ongoing turmoil in the state. Although everyone is cordially invited to the festival, the administration has some reservations regarding the likelihood of rain during the event.

    All about Ambubachi Mela

The event honours the motherhood and fertility goddess, who is thought to be one of the 52 shakti peethas. Ambubachi's etymology can be traced to the phrase "speaking with water." Water has always been connected to fertility since the beginning of time. All agricultural tasks, including sowing, digging, ploughing, etc., are forbidden throughout the festival.

The Ambubachi Festival, which is held during the monsoon season, commemorates the goddess' first menstrual cycle. As a result, the temple is closed for three days in accordance with the notion that the goddess must take a break. Many followers have already begun to arrive to request blessings from the respected goddess.
