New Delhi/Kolkata : Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be visiting West Bengal today to clarify BJP’s position on the National Register of Citizens (NRC). Shah is scheduled to speak to BJP workers regarding an NRC awareness programme in Netaji Indoor Stadium at 3 p.m and will hold party meetings with party leaderships at 5 p.m in Westin Hotel.
The seminar assumes importance due to it being held at a time when there have been 11 deaths in the state due to panic over the implementation of NRC in the state. This will be the minister’s first visit to the state since Amit Shah assumed the office of the union home minister earlier this year.
