Jorhat: The death of around 122 newborn babies in the Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH) has come to light. This follows after the death of 22 newborn babies in a week in November last year.

Even though the death toll this year is comparatively less in relation to 2018, the infrastructure in JMCH is yet to develop. From 9 October to 20 October, a total of 45 newborn babies have died in the hospital campus.
As per information from the JMCH authorities, around 965 newborn babies have been admitted in the past three months, out of which 12 percent, i.e. 122 have died. On the other hand, the death rate in JMCH is considered to be the highest this month.
